Its Christmas time, which means it’s time to get out and start working down your list and picking out gifts for all those special people in your lives. When I say it like that, it seems like such a pleasant, easy task. But in reality, Christmas shopping is a lot more difficult than we expect. There are always a few people in your family that are difficult to shop for, that wind up stressing you out because time is ticking down and you still don’t have a gift for him or her.

I wanted to make a quick blog post to let you know about a few cool items that I have learned about over a couple years of tedious Christmas shopping. Maybe they wind up being a good fit for somebody on your list. If not, maybe they can at least get you thinking outside the box a little. That way a new product that you never even considered might pop into your head, which could make a good gift.

Camp Hammock

The first item that I wanted to talk about is a camping hammock. Camping hammocks are fun gifts because they are unusual. Unless the person that you are shopping for is already a serious hiker, he or she most likely doesn’t have one already. They compact and lightweight, so they are easy to travel with if you are traveling for Christmas. And, they are made with high quality. So, when your family member unwraps it, he or she is going to feel like they were given a quality gift that they will be able to get good use out of. Camping hammocks are usually bright colored and modern looking because they are manufactured by modern high-performance outdoor brands. They really are quite fun to unbox. Camping hammocks usually run between $30 and $70, which is in a good gift price range.

Inflatable hot tub

The best inflatable hot tubs cost anywhere between $300 and $450, so this product would be more appropriate for somebody in your immediate family. Since they are expensive, you should make sure you research a little more by reading through a portable hot tub buying guide. This will ensure you get a high quality product. Depending on your budget, this might be the main or only gift. It is also possible that this is too expensive for a gift. But, I wanted to mention it because it is unique and makes a great gift. Inflatable hot tubs make great gifts because they are able to provide the same soaking experience as an actual hot tub, without the physical commitments. For example, a portable hot tub owner could choose to leave their spa standing for a month. But, for that weekend they are planning on having a party and need the deck space, they could deflate it. Or once the weather gets cold and they don’t think they will be using it, they can pack it away for the season. Inflatable hot tubs are large so they won’t be good gifts for anybody that needs to travel with them. But, a big wrapped box under the tree always gets people excited.

Maybe one of these gifts would be good for somebody in your family, maybe not. Hopefully it got you thinking about some potential Christmas gifts that you wouldn’t have considered before though. A little about Kenny

So this is my second post, but it actually should be my first post. It's my introduction post. My name is Kenny and I live near Philadelphia, PA. I just bought my first house a few years ago and am learning that being a home owner is a lot more difficult than I had originally anticipated. In the past few years, while trying to figure out how to keep my house standing, I stumbled upon a couple cool lawn and garden products that I wanted to share with people. That's what made me want to start this blog. I don't anticipate there will be any order to my postings. As I find something cool, I'll share it.

I'm also a big movie and television fan. I like talking about my favorite movies and discussing meaning behind intelligent plots. I am a huge Christopher Nolan fan, and I also like Wes Andersen. Completely different, I know!

I like music, but I can't focus if I listen to music while I work. I like the Grateful Dead when I want to be in a good mood, and Pink Floyd when I want to get goose bumps.

I'm a big Philadelphia sports fan. The Eagles are 8-1 right now, and I believe have a realistic shot of going the whole way this year. Philly has never seen a superbowl victory, so that would be awesome. Anyway, I'll be sure to keep rambling and sharing fun ideas. Thanks for listening.

A couple fun products to bring with you on your next summer vacation

Everybody likes a nice weekend at the beach. I’m from the northeast, and my family has a tradition that we get together once a year at the Jersey Shore during the summer. It’s nice because I get to spend time relatives that I don’t get to see very often, and take some time to relax and escape the stressors of my typical work schedule. We’ve been exercising this tradition for many years, so I have become a pro at summer beach vacations. Over the past 10 years, I have identified some fun products that I now like to bring with me every summer. These items enhance the experience by providing social activities for the family to participate in. I wanted to write this article to share some of the lesser known products that have really added to my family’s summer vacations. I’m hoping that you might benefit from my suggestions and possibly identify a fun product that might make your vacation better too.

Inflatable Hot Tub

I can’t even begin to tell you how many fun nights that my family and I have had in an inflatable hot tub. Some evenings it is fun to go to the boardwalk, but other evenings it is more fun to stay home and relax and share a laugh. Hot tubs are great social environments and are great environments for parents and children. Inflatable hot tubs are made with excellent quality, these days, and are capable of providing the same experience as a regular hot tub while costing a fraction of the price. The best thing about portable hot tubs is that they are portable. The entire tub and pump unit weighs around 100 pounds. So two people can load an inflatable spa in the back of a SUV or truck fairly easily. Portable hot tubs are very convenient, as well. It takes about 30 minutes to set up and inflate your inflatable Jacuzzi. After that, you just fill it up with hose water and turn on the heat pump. Tear down is just as easy. All you need to do is drain and deflate. The entire tub cistern packs into a convenient carry bag for easy transportation. Movie Projector

One of the other things that my family likes to do, is play a movie outside. A few years ago I bought a projector that I can hook up to my lap top. Once the sun goes down, we bring lawn chairs outback and project a movie onto the side of the house that we rent. If the siding isn’t flat, we use a sheet for a smooth projection surface. This is another event that we are able to share with children, and promotes good quality family time. We like to bring ice cream out and snack when we watch the movie. I have found that comedies lead to the best nights because you don’t really need to play close attention to the plot to understand the movie. During out movie outings, we are all talking and laughing during the movie so it’s nice to have a movie on that will continue to be entertaining if you miss a bit of it. Projectors are relatively inexpensive now, and you might find that you actually can use it in other situations as well. Even if you only use it once a year for outside family movie night, it still is a valuable purchase.

Summer vacations are a great opportunity to enjoy time with your friends and family. By bringing a few additional items like an inflatable hot tub or a movie projector, you can create an enjoyable at-home atmosphere. Both of these items will foster environments that mix adults and children. It is a good way to add an additional element of entertainment to an already eventful weekend.
